World Aquaculture Society appoints new president

Jennifer Blair has been appointed for the top role at World Aquaculture Society (WAS).

Blair officially started her term as president of the global aquaculture association on May 27 over Zoom, during its annual business meeting in Mexico.

“I would have loved to be there at the conference, but with so much happening on site here at Ornatas, unfortunately, I was unable to fly to Mexico. However, I am looking forward to attending the next board meeting face-to-face in Singapore, at the end of November this year,” said Blair.

Blair is the hatchery and research & development manager at Ornatas Pty Ltd. in Queensland, Australia. She is also a principal research fellow at James Cook University, conducting research on sustainable aquaculture development. She received her PhD in aquaculture from the University of Tasmania in 2001.
